- Each layer plays a vital role in preventing liquid droplets and aerosols from passing through and reaching your mouth and nose.
- Layer 1 : Is made of a non-woven water repellent fabric
- Layer 2 : Consists of a melt-blown pp filter used to provide protection from 99% of particles that are greater than 0.3 micrometers.
- Layer 3 : Is made of a non-woven absorbent skin friendly fabric. Its purpose to soak in all loose liquid particles that are exhaled from your nose and mouth.
Fake masks, unfortunately, replace one of the most important elements of the mask, the filter, with any non-filtering layer. Some fake masks consist of only 2 layers and do not include a filer at all.
- Follow the steps and watch the video below to ensure your mask is protecting you.
1. Cut the mask open & inspect the middle layer
2. It should appear different than the inner and outer layer
3. Its touch should feel more like light weight paper
4. Carefully using a flame, burn the middle layer
5. A fake mask will catch fire while burning and an original mask will melt and small plastic droplets will fall.
